After 14 years together, the collaboration with Team Principal Stefan Reinhold concludes on a high note, a podium at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring (GER) for Dan Harper (GBR), Max Hesse (GER), and Charles Weerts (BEL) a few weeks ago. The greatest joint successes for BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team RMG were two drivers' championships and one team title in the DTM.

Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport:

"We are all still shocked by the terrible accident last Friday in the Nürburgring paddock. On behalf of BMW M Motorsport, I wish all those affected a speedy recovery! We were on site in the Eifel area to conduct the first Nordschleife test with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. That went well and provided us with valuable insights for the race deployment for the 2025 season. On Saturday, the BMW M Motorsport teams achieved numerous class victories at the same place in the NLS. There were also strong results in the IMSA series and GT4 Australia. I congratulate everybody, even though it is difficult to focus on sport on such a weekend."

BMW M4 GT3 EVO Test (2nd August): Successful premiere on the Nordschleife.

The Nürburgring-Nordschleife (GER) is not only the ultimate endurance test for all BMW M production vehicles but also for all BMW M Motorsport race cars. For this reason, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, which will replace the current top model in GT racing from the 2025 season, made its debut last Friday in the "Green Hell." BMW M works drivers Jens Klingmann (GER) and Augusto Farfus (BRA) completed numerous laps and collected valuable data. Klingmann drew a very positive conclusion: "The Nordschleife, due to its unique characteristics, poses particular challenges to a race car. We are all the more pleased that we can already provide very positive feedback after our first test with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. The car's base was extremely good from the first lap, especially in terms of drivability. As a driver, you immediately have full confidence in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. These are optimal conditions to now move on to fine-tuning and thereby further improve performance. I can hardly wait for the first race appearances in 2025 with the new car."

Road America. Mixed feelings for the BMW M Motorsport teams after the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA series) race at Road America (USA). BMW M Team RLL had a challenging weekend with its two BMW M Hybrid V8s. There was great celebration among the BMW M4 GT3 crews as Turner Motorsport celebrated a class victory in the GTD category. In the GTD PRO, Paul Miller Racing finished in second place .

For Turner Motorsport, the class victory by BMW M works driver Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher (both USA) marked the end of a long dry spell. The team, led by team principal Will Turner, had last stood at the top of the IMSA podium in 2022 at Mid-Ohio (USA). For the BMW M4 GT3, it was the eagerly awaited first triumph of the current IMSA season. After their third podium of the season, with a second place at Long Beach (USA) and a third at Laguna Seca (USA), Foley and Gallagher are in a promising position in the GTD drivers' standings. Paul Miller Racing saw an end to a difficult time this season. The podium finish for BMW M works driver Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers (both USA) was the team's first since the third place at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA) at the start of the season.

BMW M Team RLL’s two BMW M Hybrid V8s did not achieve the hoped-for first podium of the season. Philipp Eng (AUT) and Jesse Krohn (FIN) missed qualifying due to an accident in practice but fought their way from the back of the GTP class field to seventh place in the race. Connor De Phillippi (USA) and Nick Yelloly (GBR) were in contention for podium positions in the first hour of the race, but then Yelloly lost control of the car, slid into the track barrier, and retired. Fortunately, Yelloly was uninjured.

Munich. Over a two-year period culminating in 2025, BMW Group Classic will have certified more than 20 Swiss BMW, BMW Motorrad and MINI retailers as BMW Group Classic partners.

The main criteria for successful certification as a BMW Group Classic partner are possessing the necessary expertise in historic BMW, BMW Motorrad and Mini vehicles and holding a suitable range of specialist tools for maintaining vintage vehicles and recent classics produced by BMW and Mini (from R50). Ensuring employees have the right level of training is a basic prerequisite for meeting customer requirements. Relevant training measures will be offered.

Customers looking for a BMW Group Classic partner to maintain, repair, restore or look after their historic vehicles can take advantage of the range of services traditionally available in Munich, but now also provided by specialists locally.

The support provided by BMW Group Classic headquarters in Munich for the local partners spans its full range of services, from assistance with technical issues, via help with procurement of replacement parts and remanufacturing of specialist tools, to provision of specific data/information from the BMW Group Archive and elsewhere.

The process of certifying BMW Group authorised retailers and workshops as BMW Group Classic partners began in 2019, and the number of international partners now stands at 148.

Bringing the history of the BMW Group to life and helping to shape the future are established pillars of BMW Group Classic strategy.

To celebrate the certification of the new BMW Group Classic partners, a large-scale event – featuring a host of iconic vehicles from BMW history and some of the company’s latest new products – will take place at the BMW Group Brand Experience Center in Dielsdorf on 10 August 2024. This day-long event, with its richly varied programme, will give visitors the chance to meet BMW Group Classic and its local partners and explore what they have to offer.

Nürburgring. Philipp Eng (AUT), Nick Yelloly (GBR), and Marco Wittmann (GER) have secured fifth place in the Endurance Cup of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS at the Nürburgring (GER). The trio, driving the ROWE Racing Team #98 BMW M4 GT3, even had a podium spot within reach at one point but were set back by a penalty. The ROWE Racing sister car, the #998 BMW M4 GT3 in the design of BMW M Motorsport partner MultiBank Group, also had a strong pace on the Eifel track but lost its podium chances after just a few corners.

Augusto Farfus (BRA), Dan Harper (GBR), and Max Hesse (GER) secured a promising eighth starting position in Sunday morning's qualifying. However, contact in the tight opening stage followed by a spin relegated the #998 BMW M4 GT3 to 29th place after just a few corners. Subsequently, the Team ROWE Racing trio had strong pace, fought their way up to eleventh place – and narrowly missed a top-10 finish in the final stage.

The #98 BMW M4 GT3 also had a strong Eifel showing and having worked its way up from 13th place to fourth after about an hour. However, due to a too-short pit stop, the trio had to serve a 15-second penalty which took away all chances of a podium finish. In the end, Yelloly, Eng, and Wittmann finished fifth at the Nürburgring.

Unfortunate race for BMW M Team WRT.
