The BMW Z4 Pure Impulse edition.
Fans of unadulterated driving pleasure in an open-top BMW M model can look forward to a new arrival tailored perfectly to their preferences: the Pure Impulse edition of the BMW Z4 M40i (fuel consumption combined: 8.7 l/100 km [32.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 197 – 195 g/km in WLTP cycle). With the 2024 model year roadster, a six-speed manual gearbox will also be available for the range-topping version for the first time. The new engine/transmission pairing forms the core element of an enticing equipment package designed to place greater emphasis than ever on the two-seater’s unwavering focus on delivering an exhilarating open-top driving experience. The Pure Impulse edition brings retuned chassis technology and mixed-size M light-alloy wheels measuring 19 inches in diameter at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear. And exclusive design features for both the exterior and interior are also included. The BMW Z4 Pure Impulse edition will be on sale in Germany, other European markets and the USA. New additions to the range of exterior paint finishes provide the remaining BMW Z4 model variants with a refresh as well.
Muscular roadster proportions with M-specific design features; two seats and a classic soft-top roof; a free-revving six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, sending its power to the road through the rear wheels: this formula has seen the BMW Z4 M40i establish itself as the archetypal purist’s sports car. And now another key ingredient in a richly engaging driving experience has joined the party in the shape of a manual gearbox to marshal the 250 kW/340 hp from that straight-six engine.
Fresh impetus for the global market leader in the premium roadster segment.

Munich. ROWE Racing will once again represent BMW M Motorsport in the 2024 season at the two major endurance classics at the Nürburgring (GER) and Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). The goal is defending the title in the Ardennes and, after finishing second in 2023, launching an assault on the second Nürburgring triumph after 2020. Similar to last year, the team led by team manager Hans-Peter Naundorf will compete in the five races of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup with two BMW M4 GT3s. Two cars will also be in action on the Nordschleife.
In the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, Philipp Eng (AUT), Marco Wittmann (GER), and Nick Yelloly (GBR) aim to defend their jointly achieved victory at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in 2023. They will share the cockpit of a BMW M4 GT3 in four races of the Fanatec GT Endurance Cup. Due to a schedule clash between the event at Monza (ITA) in September and the IMSA Indianapolis (USA) race, Eng and Yelloly cannot compete together with Wittmann that weekend. The driver line-up for that race will be announced at a later date.
In the team’s other BMW M4 GT3, Dan Harper (GBR) and Max Hesse (GER) will once again hit the track. Augusto Farfus (BRA) joins as the third driver, returning to ROWE Racing. He first raced with the squad in 2022 and in 2023, he competed for the team at the Nürburgring and in Macau (CHN). Farfus reunites with Hesse and Harper, with whom he previously shared the cockpit as a mentor of the BMW Junior Team on the Nordschleife.
For the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring, seven BMW M works drivers will compete in the two BMW M4 GT3s. Alongside GTWC drivers Wittmann and Farfus, these are Sheldon van der Linde (RSA), Maxime Martin, Dries Vanthoor (both BEL), and the two new additions Robin Frijns (NED) and Raffaele Marciello (SUI).

The straight six-cylinder engine featuring M TwinPower Turbo Technology will in future be available in three performance levels. Still unparalleled in the competitive environment is the combination of the 353 kW/480 hp variant of the power unit with a 6-speed manual transmission in the new BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.1 – 10.0 l/ 100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 230 – 226 g/km according to WLTP). The power plant in the new BMW M4 Competition Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 9.9 – 9.7 l/ 100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 223 – 219 g/km according to WLTP) delivers a maximum power output of 375 kW/510 hp, transferring power to the road via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. In combination with M xDrive featured in the four-wheel drive variants of both the Coupé and Convertible, this transmission guarantees extremely superior transformation of power output – now increased to 390 kW/530 hp – into exhilarating driving dynamics.
Thanks to the current modifications, the high-performance automobiles of the premium midsize segment all have the ideal prerequisites for the continuation of their popularity on international automobile markets, whilst strengthening their leading position within the segment. The USA has become the major sales market for the BMW M4 Coupé, followed by China, Germany and the UK. In the USA, the BMW M4 Convertible accounts by far for the highest sales figures. Moreover, the open-top four-seater enjoys great popularity in Germany and the UK. The new editions of the BMW M4 Coupé and the BMW M4 Convertible are produced at the BMW Group Dingolfing plant. The worldwide market launch of the new models will begin with the commencement of production in March 2024.
