    2003 European Touring Car ChampionshipRounds 15 - 20/21 September, Oschersleben (Germany) - RACEBMW strengthens its hold on the ChampionshipTwo superb wins for BMW Team Deutschland's Jörg Müller and BMW Team GreatBritain's Andy Priaulx have given BMW a 53 point lead in the Manufacturers'Championship as the ETCC goes to the final four races. Before the weekend bothdrivers were in strong positions in the battle for the Drivers' title, and their resultsnow mean Jörg's lead has gone from two to five points and Andy has beenpromoted to second. The BMW Team Italy-Spain cars also showed winningpotential with Fabrizio Giovanardi leading he opening laps of race two and AntonioGarcia finishing the race behind Andy, the eventual winner, by just half a second....

    2003 European Touring Car ChampionshipRounds 15, 16 - 20/21 September, Oschersleben (Germany) -QUALIFYINGFirst pole of the season for Jörg Müller after close qualifyingJörg Müller claimed pole position for BMW's home race after one of theclosest qualifying sessions of the year. The top 13 cars on the grid arecovered by less than a second and four of the five BMW national team carswill start in the top five places. The unlucky driver out of this group is DirkMüller, in the second BMW Team Deutschland 320i, who spun into a graveltrap and so the best he could manage was eighth. Second quickest BMWdriver was BMW Team Great Britain's Andy Priaulx in third, and just behindhim are the BMW Team Italy-Spain drivers, Antonio Garcia and FabrizioGiovanardi.   • BMW Team PTG: BMW M3s finish 2,4,5,8,16 in Speed GT at Laguna Seca
    BMW AND AUBERLEN CONTINUE TO LEAD SPEED GT CHAMPIONSHIP; BMW M3s FINISH 2, 4, 5, 8 and 16 at LAGUNA SECABill Auberlen's second-place finish and a strong BMW Team PTG performance resulted in both BMW and Auberlen extending their respective leads in the SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Manufacturer's and Driver's Championships today at Laguna Seca Raceway.Despite a 150-pound addition by SCCA Pro Racing to all the BMW M3s prior to the race, Auberlen held firmly onto second after starting eighth. Moving into fourth on lap 7, he continued moving up, and was in third on lap 11. A full-course caution bunched up the field and Auberlen was able to slide into second on the lap-15 restart and hold the spot for the rest of the race.Hans Stuck won the Sunoco Hard Charger Award for moving from his 11th place starting spot to finish fourth and also the Remus Power Move Award for the two best passes of the race.     Qualifying in Anderstorp produced disappointing grid positions for the BMW drivers with fourth for the BMW Team Deutschland 320i of Jörg Müller being the marque?s best result. However, the BMW Team Italy-Spain drivers,Fabrizio Giovanardi and Antonio Garcia were more competitive than in the recent races so they have reason to feel optimistic.   • BMW Team PTG: 4 M3s in top 10 in Laguna Speed GT qualifying
    Laguna Seca Qualifying: Four BMW M3s in top 10; Miller to start fifth in first Speed GT raceToday's 20-minute qualifying session for Round 8 of the 2003 SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championship at Laguna Seca Raceway left BMW Team PTG disappointed but determined.An August 7 competition adjustment that added 150 pounds to the S54-engined BMW M3s left three-time winner and Driver's Championship points leader Bill Auberlen eighth (1:34.342), Boris Said ninth (1:34.443), Justin Marks 10th (1:34.598) and Hans Stuck 11th (1:34.599). New to PTG this race, Bryce Miller was able to set the fifth fastest lap (1:33.685) by benefit of the fact that the S50 engine that powers his M3 was not subject to the 150-weight addition.After qualifying, the SCCA clarified the situation and imposed the 150-pound weight penalty on Bryce Miller's S50-engined M3 as well.BMW currently leads the Speed GT Manufacturer's Championship by eight points over Audi and Bill Auberlen stands atop the Speed GT Driver's Champions...

  • BMW Team PTG-Bryce Miller added, Test Notes
    With three races remaining in the 2003 SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championship, BMW Team PTG opened Round 8 at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, Calif., by adding 22-year old Bryce Miller of Morristown, N.J., in its fifth BMW M3 for the remainder of the season. Bryce will join Team PTG regulars Auberlen, Boris Said, Hans Stuck and Justin Marks. Going into this event, BMW leads the Manufacturer's Championship and Bill Auberlen sits atop the Driver's Championship standings.On the team's last visit to the Golden State in July, BMW Team PTG made Speed GT history by finishing 1-2-3-4 in Round 6 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma.BMW Team PTG has raced a fifth M3 once before this season at Round 5 at Road Atlanta with Nic Jonsson behind the wheel.Miller joins the team after a successful test with the team at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga., last week.
