The start of the 2008 SCCA SPEED World Challenge season would find the veteran BimmerWorld BMW team and GearWrench, the leading manufacturer of ratcheting wrenches and mechanics' hand tools, partnered to introduce the GearWrench brand through the team's winning performances in North America's most exciting road racing series.
After a year of escalating performances, capped off with BimmerWorld owner/driver James Clay's dominating win at Road America in August, GearWrench and BimmerWorld have taken the next step to amplify their partnership for increased promotional exposure.
With the World Challenge season drawing to a close October 3rd at the Road Atlanta circuit in Braselton, Georgia, all three BimmerWorld BMW E90's will feature prominent GearWrench branding across their hoods. The growth in the partnership will also see the #34, #36, and #38 cars being entered under the the "BimmerWorld / GearWrench BMW E90" banner for the event.
GearWrench Brand Manager Marc Mangus sees the enhanced partnership with BimmerWorld as a natural fit for two companies known for uncompromising attention to detail. "GearWrench tools are designed and manufactured for superior performance and productivity. We are proud to align GearWrench with an organization like BimmerWorld that's known for such a high degree of excellence in automotive engineering."
For James Clay, GearWrench has provided a competitive advantage for his crew and his cars. "So much of a successful race program is the things you don't see on TV - the hours spent building and refining at the shop and the long hours at the track between track sessions to make the cars perform. GearWrench gives us the right tools for the job and that keeps our technicians that run the cars happy and working efficiently."
The choice by Mangus and GearWrench to expose their products to new markets with BimmerWorld in the World Challenge series has been a success all season long. By delivering the company to victory lane last month, Mangus says the team's triumph has only made their relationship stronger. "The GearWrench team was extremely excited by James earning such an impressive win. There is a strong sense of pride knowing that our products helped the BimmerWorld team get the winning car race ready.
One of the key motivators behind GearWrench's choice to become a part of BimmerWorld's World Challenge program was the sheer intensity of the competition. Just as the cars and drivers are pushed to the limit, the extensive line of GearWrench tools used by BimmerWorld's crew are also subjected to the highest demands for performance.
"The BimmerWorld crew team is one of the best in any race circuit around the country," said Mangus. "They put our products to the test everyday. If our tools can stand up to the performance demands that the team puts on them, we're confident they will perform at the same peak level in any working environment."
The Road Atlanta race might serve as the conclusion to a long year of auto racing for BimmerWorld, but no one within the team is in a hurry to get the weekend over. In addition to the huge crowds that line the track, the race is a beacon for hardcore fans of fast cars and automotive technology. That's a perfect audience to embrace the BimmerWorld / GearWrench team, says James Clay.
"The finale at Road Atlanta is a great event for this deal to happen with all of our local fans and supporters. Certainly we hope it is great publicity for GearWrench and it should be. Unlike many racing sponsors, every racing fan can buy and use their products and they do as much for us to make the cars fast as any other sponsor on the car - they are the real deal!"
