The HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship resumes this weekend as the BMW Dealer Team UK makes its way to Snetterton circuit, Norfolk for the sixth meeting of the ultra-competitive series.
Accident Exchange-backed driver Mat Jackson is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of his BMW320si touring car after the series’ five-week break. Jackson, from Henley-in-Arden, had a mixed first half of the season, it initially witnessed him make an impressive debut, challenging for the Championship lead but as the competition increased the rostrum eluded the 26-year-old, however, undeterred Jackson returned to form at the fifth meeting of the season at Croft and put his Championship aspirations firmly back on track when he demonstrated, with a spectacular drive through the field, his skill and determination as the he finished in an impressive second place from 18th on the grid!
Jackson now lies in third place in both the BTCC standings and the Independent’s Trophy and is intent on returning to the podium at the 1.95–mile track where the team tested last week.
Jackson commented, “The test at Snetterton has helped us gain some knowledge which we will capitalise on when we return to the circuit and no doubt the weather will have a part to play in the weekend’s proceedings; if it is heavy rain we should repeat the Croft success. Either way, it will be good to get back behind the wheel and get racing again.”
Team Principal Chris Tee commented, “We finished the first half of the season on a good result and we now need to build upon that for the remainder of the series. Hopefully we have had our share of misfortune in the first half of the year and we can now concentrate on consistently finishing high in the points to improve on our Championship standings.”
Qualifying for rounds 16, 17, and 18 takes place on Saturday 12 July at 15.45 with three races taking place on Sunday 13th July at 11.10, 13.35 and 17.40.
