Racing In The KONI Challenge Series Resumes After 2.5 Month Break

HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY, Homestead, Florida (April 10, 2007) -- After a long break racing resumes in the Grand-Am KONI Challenge this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway in South Florida. The Turner Motorsport BMW team has been hard at work after the season-opening round at Daytona in January but is anxious to get back to racing for the next two weekends in Florida and Iowa.

The season opener at Daytona was a successful start to the season for the trio of Turner BMWs - third and tenth place in the Grand Sport class (BMW M3) and seventh place in the Street Tuner class (BMW 330i), with team drivers Bill Auberlen and Chris Gleason leading the way in the #96 Motul Lubricants/H&R Springs BMW M3. With the next round at the Homestead oval speedway, the team is hoping to translate the hard work of the break into more podium finishes in both classes.

Will Turner, team owner and driver, #97 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW M3:
"We tried to use this break in between rounds 1 and 2 to make progress, big or small, in all areas of our programs. We tested the cars to try out some new ideas and setups, drilled our team in pit stop performance, and studied the data from Daytona and our last race at Homestead (March, 2006). We're ready to go for the wins again and put the Mustangs and Porsches to the test!"

Turner Motorsport will again be fielding a trio of BMWs, piloted by past champions in several forms of road racing. Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood will be teaming up in the Street Tuner class in the #95 H&R Springs/Turner Motorsport BMW 330i (the 2006 ST championship-winning car). In the Grand Sport class, Bill Auberlen and Chris Gleason will again share driving duties in the #96 Turner Motorsport/Motul Lubricants BMW M3 (winner of two races in 2006), while Will Turner and Don Salama will pilot the #97 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW M3 (the 2006 GS class championship car).

This weekend's race schedule has practice sessions and qualifying on Saturday, and the 2.5 hour/400 kilometer races on Sunday, starting at 10:15am for the Street Tuner race and 1:45pm for the Grand Sport class.
