DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Automatic Racing’s four-car lineup will be a team to watch during this weekend’s Fresh from Florida 200, the season opener for the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series.

Automatic Racing is partnered with the race’s title sponsor, Fresh from Florida, a campaign of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services that serves to increase public awareness of the importance of Florida’s agriculture industry, which has an estimated overall economic impact of more than $87 billion annually.

The No. 99 Automatic Racing/Fresh from Florida BMW M3 will be easy to spot with its bright green wrap, which is adorned with a collage of fruits and vegetables grown throughout the state of Florida. David Russell and Tom Long will be co-driving the car during the three-hour race, which gets underway at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, January 26.

“This first race at Daytona is going to be extremely exciting for us, with this being the home race venue for our partnership with Fresh from Florida,” commented Long. “I’d like nothing more than to put Automatic and Fresh from Florida on the podium to start the year off on the right foot, especially since Fresh from Florida is also title sponsor of the race.”

As added incentive to get a top finish, Charles Bronson, the Commissioner of Agriculture for the state of Florida, will be on hand to watch the race.

The No. 09 Automatic BMW will also have a Fresh from Florida wrap, with an eye-catching tangerine color scheme. Jeff Segal and Jep Thornton are teaming up this season to campaign the car. Segal led Automatic Racing to three podium finishes in 2006, and he and Thornton will be looking for more consistent top finishes.

The No. 91 Automatic Racing BMW M3 will be driven by Tim George, Jr. and Pete Argetsinger, who are both making their debut with the team this season. George recently acquired sponsorship from Gleukos, a high-performance sports drink.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to represent a new and promising company such as Gleukos,” commented George, who noted the importance of replenishing his body during a race as long as the Fresh from Florida 200. “Their sports drink helps me focus and maintain endurance. It’s sure to be a competitor with other large performance beverages in the racing market.”

Jon Miller and Owen Trinkler will complete the Automatic Racing lineup, driving the No. 90 BMW M3. The two talents performed well during testing at Daytona several weeks ago, and they are both looking forward to competing in the Weeden Consultants-sponsored car.
