Portland, Ore. - July 23, 2006... Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand, driving the No. 21 BMW Team PTG M3, delivered the team's second podium finish of the season in yesterday's Portland Grand Prix. Starting from the fourth position, the duo completed 128 laps of the Portland International Raceway in the two-hour-and-forty-five-minute race, finishing 48 seconds behind the class winning Ferrari.
Justin Marks and Bryan Sellers, driving the No. 22 BMW Team PTG M3, finished eighth, two laps behind their teammates.

After running quickly in practice and qualifying sessions Bill Auberlen started the No. 21 M3 and jumped into second as soon as the green flag waved. He pitted just past the one-hour mark. Joey Hand took over, rejoining the race in the third spot. He held his position, but the heat began to take its toll on driver and machine. He pitted with 45 minutes left in the race and quick work by the crew put Auberlen back into the race on new Yokohama tires to secure the team's second podium finish of the season.

Farther back in the field Marks had a good start, but contact in the early minutes of the race had him off at turn 4. He recovered and continued. Sellers pitted at the two-hour mark to give the No. 22 M3 back to Marks for the final 45 minutes of the race.

Round 7 of the American Le Mans Series will be held August 20 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. The race will be televised live on CBS Speed Channel beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET.

BILL AUBERLEN, DRIVER NO. 21 BMW TEAM PTG M3 (3rd): "The No. 21 M3 was almost perfect this weekend. Not to say we could have challenged for the win, but we were as good as we can be right now. It was an extremely hot, tough race for everyone, but we are all smiling because we all gave it our best."
JOEY HAND, DRIVER NO. 21 BMW TEAM PTG M3 (3rd): "We knew we had a top-three car this weekend and to finish third almost feels like a win. I was hoping to be able to finish the race, but it was so hot that when we had the chance to get Bill back in we took it."
JUSTIN MARKS, DRIVER NO. 22 BMW TEAM PTG M3 (8th): "I believe we had a top-five car this weekend, but the result does not show it. Contact in the opening laps set us back so our real race was against the heat."
BRYAN SELLERS, DRIVER NO. 22 BMW TEAM PTG M3 (8th): "Justin drove a great race as he was in the car for the first and final stints. I know we are improving the setup every weekend and that means when we have better luck we will move the No. 22 M3 to a much better result."
TOM MILNER, OWNER BMW TEAM PTG: "We had a good strategy, took advantage of the yellow and executed each pit stop well. We chose to stop a bit earlier than most for our last stop and were able to take advantage of a rested Auberlen on new Yokohamas. It was a good effort today."
LARRY KOCH, M BRAND AND MOTORSPORT MANAGER, BMW OF NORTH AMERICA, LLC: "BMW Team PTG gave a great performance today. After two very hot weekends in Salt Lake City and Portland we are hoping for much cooler weather at Road America."
