Day one - Tuesday

Weather conditions: Wet in the morning but dry in the afternoon, air: 12-18°C, track: 13-21°C

Number of cars participating: 14

Fastest lap overall: 1:21.099, Juan Pablo Montoya, McLaren MP4-21, Michelin

Jack Villeneue :
Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.06-07 / BMW P86 V8
Test kilometres today: 293 km (57 laps)
Fastest lap: 1:22.270s (lap 46)

Robert Kubica:
Chassis / engine: BMW Sauber F1.06-06 / BMW P86 V8
Test kilometres today: 298 km (58 laps)
Fastest lap: 1:22.702s (lap 48)

As the morning was wet, the BMW Sauber F1 team did not start its work until the afternoon. It is quite a time since any members of this team have been at the circuit so it was important to do preparation work for the British Grand Prix on the 11th June. Jacques Villeneuve completed set-up and aero work, while Robert Kubica did set-up work and tyre comparisons.

What comes next:
Tomorrow Jacques will continue testing and will concentrate on tyres and aero work. It will be Nick Heidfeld's first day, taking over from Robert, and he will do some set-up work to catch up with what the team has been doing today and then also work on tyres.
