Radford, Virginia (March 9th 2006): BimmerWorld Racing announced that James Clay, of Blacksburg Virginia, and Cumming Georgia driver Seth Thomas will return to contest the entire 2006 SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car season. Clay and Thomas will be joined by rookie candidate Paul Goldman of Menlo Park California for the season opening race at the historic Sebring International Raceway on March 17th.

Clay indicated that they will race the two season opening Florida events at Sebring and St. Petersburg driving the E46 BMW 325s they drove in 2005 as their new E90 BMW 325i’s aren’t quite ready for prime time.

“BimmerWorld will be the first to race the new E90s in North America therefore it is extremely important to our team to make sure that the cars are ready to properly represent BMW and BimmerWorld,” said Clay.

“We are looking at Round 3 at Mid-Ohio as the debut for the new E90 at this time,” Clay continued saying that BimmerWorld didn’t want to bring the new cars into the highly competitive Touring Car series until it was ready.

Seth Thomas, beginning his 3rd season in the World Challenge Series, finished 9th in the Touring Car championship in 2005 scoring 8 top ten finishes with a best finish of 4th at Cleveland after starting 15th.

“My main focus this year is to qualify better,” said Thomas. “Last year I could always race and finish really well. My qualifying position never put me in a spot where I could finish where I felt the team prepared the car to finish.”

“I feel that qualifying better will help lead to my first career podium and first career win,” Seth who is looking for a breakout season in 2006 concluded.

“I am glad that Seth will be returning for the 2006 season,” said Clay of his teammate Thomas. “He has developed into a driver who demonstrates speed and leadership and he will be an important part of our 2006 goals.”

James Clay, who is the owner of BimmerWorld returns for his 4th world Challenge season. James finished 10th in the Touring Car points chase in 2006 as he scored strong 4th place finishes at Infineon and Mosport along with a 5th place run at Sebring last season.

New to the BimmerWorld lineup will be Paul Goldman. Goldman, who owns and operates Maxwell Taylor, LLC a construction and property Management Company, comes from an SCCA Club Racing and Historic Racing background.

Paul Goldman is new to the series and I think he has excellent rookie potential,” Clay said of his new teammate. “We will have some testing under our belts before Sebring so I expect him to put forth a strong showing this year!”

“Our full crew will be returning in 2006 with more members taking on full time responsibilities in the new BimmerWorld Racing facility,” said Clay. “This will give us more capability to focus on our goal of winning races this year!”

The BimmerWorld Racing crew is led by crew chief Jason Marks, winner of the 2004 Zimmerman Cup which is given to the crew chief of the year in the World Challenge Series.

“We have kept many of our 2005 sponsors for the 2006 team, including Silkolene, Ground Control, Bimmerforums.com, and Rogue Engineering,” Clay said. “We have been working with Performance Friction on new braking systems for all of the cars which I am excited about. Also, BBS, Moton, Diffsonline, and JB Racing have come on board as sponsors for the year as well.”

“This will be an excellent opportunity for us to work with the top companies in the industry as we use the race program to drive development for our increasing line of BMW race and street performance parts,” concluded James Clay.

The BimmerWorld Racing BMW 325s and the entire SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Series will open the 2006 season at Sebring International Raceway as part of the Historic Sebring 12 Hour on March 17th.
