Chili Pepper Racing, LLC Press Release By Sahar Hassani (Sahar-1@msn.com)
World Challenge Veteran # 7 Ken Dobson has joined forces with Dr. Osborn’s Chili Pepper Racing, LLC, of Ooltewah, TN, to compete in the 2003 Speed World Challenge Touring Car Series.
Jim reports, “I am excited to have Ken aboard and I know his expertise in racing will be a great asset to the team”. Driving a BMW E46 328 Ci, Dobson secured fourth place with 194 drivers points in the 2002 Speed World Challenge Touring Car Series. He took first place at Mosport Raceway, Ontario, Canada and had five top-five finishes, helping BMW secure second place in the manufacture’s championship. The 32-year old California native has had previous racing experience in Formula Mazda, Firestone Firehawk, Superkart 125cc, shifter karts, vintage racing and Formula Fords. This will be the fourth season for Ken in the Touring Car Series and he is looking forward to being a part of the Chili Pepper Racing team.
Osborn formed Chili Pepper Racing, LLC, to raise funds and awareness for T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, TN (www.Erlanger.org) and Remote Area Medical (www.ramusa.org) of Knoxville, TN. The 40 year old orthopaedic surgeon began racing in 1981 while in college, became a Solo II and Performance Driving School instructor, then began road-racing in 1996 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the BMWCCA Club Racing Program. Jim successfully finished his rookie season in the Speed World Challenge Touring Car Series (ranking 27th out of 78 racecar drivers) and winning the “Hole Shot Award” by passing 22 competitors in the first lap of the World Challenge Touring Car series Round #10 at Road Atlanta. Osborn knows there is no room for mistakes on the track or in the operating room. Driving his red, #24 BMW E46 325i, Jim’s overall goal is to help raise funds and awareness to his favorite charities.
Osborn believes that Dobson “has what it takes to win the Championship this year. Dobson has done very well in the past 2 years, yet the championship has unfortunately eluded him”. Osborn’s says, “We plan to work together as a team and are committed to making this a winning season”.
With Dobson and Osborn’s track record, they could raise big money for T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital and Remote Area Medical. The Children’s Hospital serves the needs of children in three states and often receives no reimbursement in the care of oncology, trauma, burn care, birth defect treatment, or routine medical services. Remote Area Medical, an international medical relief organization, offers free medical and dental care from the rural Appalachian Mountains to Guyana, South America. Remote Area Medical runs on a small budget with workers donating their time and expertise. Monies raised will help the organization continue their efforts in providing free medical care to people throughout the world. Osborn and Dobson will sport the charities’ logos on their racecars and make public appearances to help raise funds for the two charities. During the past year, Jim has been visiting patients and their families at the Children’s Hospital and providing them with Chili Pepper Racing hats and matching shirts. Dr. Osborn has made several public appearances to local middle schools and malls to raise awareness and monies for people who are in need of free medical care.
Chili Pepper Racing, LLC is as passionate about racing as they are about providing medical care. Jim’s brother, John Osborn, a dentist who lives in Knoxville, TN is an integral part of Chili Pepper Racing. John is also the Director of Dental Services of Remote Area Medical and donates his time and services to this special organization. The Director of Program Development for Chili Pepper Racing is John’s wife, Laurie who also serves as a volunteer for Remote Area Medical.
