Chili Pepper Racing (CPR) added some spice in round 9 of the Speed World Challenge (WC) Touring Series on October 16-18, 2003. During the Petit Le Mans Weekend at Road Atlanta, Chili Pepper Racing raised over $6,000.00 dollars for the Lighthouse Family Retreat (www.lighthousefamilyretreat.org). The Lighthouse family retreat is a non-for-profit organization that serves children with cancer and their families at a seaside retreat.
During Friday’s Speed WC Touring Series award ceremony, a check for $3,000 was presented to the Lighthouse Family Retreat. Founder, Melinda Mayton, was touched by the generosity made by the teams; drivers and SCCA Pro Racing Staff.

CPR hosted a hospitality tent in the Paddock area under the CPR tent. Children and their families were welcomed for the entire race weekend where they were able to meet the drivers, checkout their cars, and watch the race. Through the help of Road Atlanta staff, a couple children even had the opportunity to ride in pace cars prior to Saturday’s Petit Le Mans Race.

Although the Chili Pepper Racing Red #24 BMW 325 Ci had mechanical problems during the race. Team owner, Jim Osborn, felt the race weekend was still a success. “It’s a great feeling to see teams, drivers, and SCCA staff unite to help children in need. The true winner this weekend was the Lighthouse Family Retreat.” For CPR updates, sign up for the CPR newsletter at www.chilipepperracing.org.
