Contact: Sahar Hassani (sahar-1@msn.com)
Chili Pepper Racing, LLC ( www.chilipepperracing.org ) was awarded the prestigious Jim Cook Award at the annual Speed World Challenge 2003 awards ceremony in Puerto Rico. Each year, an entrant/driver receives the award for “ having made significant contributions to the overall success of the Championship Series through a consistant display of good character and sportsmanship”. Chili Pepper Racing received the highest non-racing award in the World Challenge for their charitable contributions and work with the underprivileged and disadvantaged. The annual award honoring the memory of James Edwin Cook (1939-1985) was started during the Endurance Championship era. Previous winners include: Tommy Morrison (1985), Rick Hurst (1986), Dave Wolin (1987), Steve Saleen (1988), Tommy Archer (1989), Doc Bundy, Scott Lagasse and Lotus USA (1990), Lotus USA (1991), Doug Rippie/Dieline (1992), Chris Neville (1993), Kermit Upton III (1994), David Rosenblum (1995), Saleen/Allen Racing (1996), RealTime Racing (1997), DC Sports (1998), Turner Motorsport (1999), Team Tech Racing/Scott Bove (2000), Phil McClure (2001) and Rod Bymaster/Audi (2002).
Team owner, Jim Osborn, driving his red, hot BMW 325Ci in Speed World Challenge Touring Series, dedicated his efforts to raising funds and awareness for children with medical needs. The World Challenge series has presented a great opportunity for the team to get great exposure for these charity organizations. Other World Challenge teams, drivers, and SCCA staff have taken initiative in helping the charities “We really wanted to say thanks as a team to these guys for making this special effort to help get the message out about our charities. It really goes to show you the heart and compassion of the drivers we have racing in this series,” says Osborn.
Chili Pepper Racing looks forward “racing for charity” for the 2004 Speed World Challenge Touring season. For up-to-date information on the team, sign up for their newsletter at  www.chilipepperracing.org
