Woodcliff Lake, N.J. - June 28, 2004... The Formula BMW USA Championship will race in support of the Champ Car World Series for the first time this season after its opening rounds at Lime Rock Park in May and four rounds supporting the Canadian and United States Grands Prix. Rounds 7 and 8 will be held at the 2.106-mile temporary Burke Lakefront Airport street circuit in Cleveland, Ohio on July 2nd and 3rd.

Six exciting races so far this season have produced three race winners. Andreas Wirth was a double-winner at Lime Rock Park. Jonathan Summerton and Matt Jaskol each took a victory in Montreal and Indianapolis.

Only 44 points separate the top-five in the Championship battle. With 20 points awarded to the winner of each round, everyone still has their eye on the inaugural Formula BMW USA title. The top-five in points are Andreas Wirth (90), James Hinchcliffe (75), Jonathan Summerton (68), Matt Jaskol (67) and Billy Johnson (46).

Although he has yet to reach the top step of the podium, Hinchcliffe leads the Rookie points through six top-five finishes, including three as runner-up. He was the top-finishing Rookie in four rounds. Jonathan Summerton and Tom Milner stand second and third respectively in Rookie points.

Matt Jaskol is still on a high from his Round 6 victory in front of the US Grand Prix crowd, "My dream is to race in F1 and I have an incredible opportunity thanks to the Red Bull Driver Search. Although I have two wins under my belt, I have had a bit of a tough road. But, racing is my dream and when you chase your dreams you are going to run into a few nightmares along the way. Hopefully, those nightmares are all in the past."

Cleveland is a special circuit for Ohio's Rahal family. In 1982 Bobby Rahal won his first Champ Car race at the inaugural Grand Prix of Cleveland. 15-year old Graham Rahal, with six top-15 finishes to-date and a season's best ninth at Round 5, is looking forward to competing there. "Personally it has been really an interesting experience to get to go to these tracks where my dad raced. I have been to some of these tracks like Indy, Montreal and Cleveland a number of times watching him race, and now finally I get a chance to run on these tracks. Not long ago it was just a dream of mine, but now I finally get the chance to race on these historic courses. It is a dream of a lot of kids and fortunately I have been lucky enough that it has happened early for me."

Practice and qualifying for Round 7 will be held on Thursday, July 1st. Qualifying for Round 8 is scheduled for Friday morning and the Round 7 race is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Round 8 is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
