The No. 21 M3 of Auberlen and Boris Said was among the fastest in the three practice sessions that preceded today’s 4 p.m. qualifying session. In addition, Auberlen captured the $1000 Acxiom Grand Touring Challenge Pole Bonus.
Justin Marks qualified the No. 22 BMW Team PTG M3 fourth with a lap of 1:02.077, equaling his Homestead-Miami performance. He will drive the No. 22 car with former Formula Atlantic standout Joey Hand.
Zippo Live Timing and Scoring is available for all on-track activities on the official Grand American website, www.grandamerican.com. The 250-mile race is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM MST on Saturday.
BILL AUBERLEN, DRIVER NO. 21 BMW TEAM PTG M3 (first): “The M3 has been very good every session and I am extremely happy with where we are now. The team made progress every time we were on the track. It was back and forth during qualifying for a while, but we got it. The team will work hard tonight to ensure the car is perfect for tomorrow’s race.”
JUSTIN MARKS, DRIVER NO. 22 BMW TEAM PTG M3 (fourth): “The track has changed a lot, but we have tried to focus on changes that will help us in the race. I think the car was as good as it could have been for qualifying. The times are all very close, but I think we may still be able to find a little bit more speed for the race.”
TOM MILNER, OWNER, PROTOTYPE TECHNOLOGY GROUP: “We are happy to be on the pole, but tomorrow will be a tough race given that the top four qualifier are within four-tenths of a second.” Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
