I was told by a friend that the BMW 94 530i was built for the USA market as it came with a V8 is this true?    Afro

nope - the 530i came with the inline 6 - the 540i came with the V8...I believe both are sold in any market.

Sorry Jeff, not correct.  Prior to 1995 the 530i sold by BMW was a V-8.  I'm not sure what year it started, but BMW did offer a 3.0 V-8.  The 3.0 liter 6 didn't come around until much later.

Yep - correct - 1992 to 1995 - 3.0 V8
