All suggestions on what should happen here this year go here.

Already planned is development of www.bmwe30tech .com (.net) and all tech articles to be migrated over to that site.

The photo gallery is the absolute most popular section of the site here, with at least 3 times the traffic of the forum or main site.

I'd like your input, let's see what new things we can do.

I have other plans in the works, but I do not want my competition getting wind of what the future holds, because I want to be first Smiley

Oh yeah - BMWsport.net created 12.31.2000
Been here for a long time now...

first of all, I'm spending more time combating the spammers on my board, than I can spend doing updates to the site.

Can you set a condition that someone can't post a link or url until they have 10-20 posts, or something like that?

I hope you aren't upset with my approvals?  I send an email, and it doesn't some back, so the address is good, and the IP traces.  I don't know what else I should be looking for?

I'm not mad at you at all, when somebody registers, and the address is bad, it comes back to my hotmail addy, and I remove the account right away.  If it's a valid address, then I think they should be ok to post...it's really hit or miss.

Some seem to be automated, so I will look to install a script that you have to type a code while registering.

Maybe I can set it to only reply to 5 first, before being allowed to make a topic?

I have set a lot of domain/ip/hostname/email address bans, and you can view them in the admin area.

I'll work on this tonite, it's gotta be easier.

Hi mates,
sorry for not mangling in this topic...

Jeff, try updating to SMF 1.1.1, you're missing out on some security updates.
Then set the registring to validate by mail, and let users verify by typing letters/numbers they see in a picture (you can set it in admin -> registration -> settings)
Hope that'll work!

Let me know if you need some help

Got that all upgraded, Ilir

I've made the gallery visible by only registered or logged in members now.  I need more people acting like a community here, and that's a start.
