A co-worker gave me a link to local website where a highschool kid was trying to sell his 1991 M5.  It has a 160,000 miles and is kind of rough shape on the inside.  The car is very clean on the outside.  He can't keep up the maintence and gas is killling him.  Wants $9000 or best offer, and I don't think he has any offers yet.  I couldn't swing the deal.  I'll give anyone the contact info if they are interested.

nobody in high school should have an M car anyway - that's my view.  How much do you think it would cost to restore the interior, and what color is the exterior/interior?  engine clean?  original wheels?

The other site is not responding, so I can't link the pictures right now.  It is light blue exterior with light grey leather interior.  Paint is in great shape.  The interior door panels in the back or off, but he has them.  The seats are cracked.  The SLS suspension is shot and needs complete rebuild or to be removed and standard suspension installed.  Not sure about the engine, clutch or tranny.  Some other guys thought 3-6K to bring it back to par.  The kid might be a college guy, but pretty young.  Has the throwing star wheels.

Well, I guess I'm still flirting.  He sent me message back and said he need to check with his dad, but that might be interested in trading.  HHmmmm, the drama continues.

Sure looks fine, but can you run that m5 as your regular car?

I'd have to, I don't have anything else.  My gas bill would certainly go up.  But I would be riding in grand style after I got the interior cleaned up and sport suspension swapped in there.

What can I say, he's a high school kid.  A Civic R with a turbo is the Holy Grail.  The car does need a beeter home.

Looks like a nice car, and you're making him an offer you cannot resist Wink.
Are there any answers to the questions that day1si guy asked? Quite interested in that....

Day1si is a co-worker, has a nice S2000, and he is the person that tipped me off about the car.  The seller responded to him by PM.  The kid is somewhat coy in his answers.  Claims the yellow stuff is cosmoline and has been on the car since new.  Claims to have a lot of service records.  I'll check into that stuff, if the kid takes the hook on the trade.  If he won't trade the details are acedemic, it won't be my car.

The kid has not updated his FS thread this week.  Sunday night he sent me a PM asing howmuch money I had to put in with my car for a trade.  I suggested we get together and look at each others cars.  He has never responded back.  I haven't been able to come up with a place to get the 2-3K I would probably need to swing the deal, so I've pretty much let the deal go.
