On my way to work there is a great ramp that connects two freeways.  It is a long weeping turn that tighens slightly, it then merges onto a two-lane section of highway that soon enters the interstate.  Lots of room to manuver and accellerate.  Many times I have taken the ramp at 80 mph all the way through.  The car just loves it, and so do I.

Today as I approached the ramp I noticed a Mustang ahead of me by several car lenghts.  As we approached the tight part he entered at about 70 mph and I had closed to about 4 car lenghts.  I started to speed up.  I checked over to left and saw no traffic on the road we were to merge onto.  I don't the Mustang saw me yet or he paying attention to his left.  As we made the merge I was right on his bumper and still accellerating.  That was when I saw the SVT badge.   He tried to speed up to keep from getting ahead so I couldn't beat him to the left lane.  Too late though, I had momentum and the RPM's.  As we entered the interstate traffic was a little heavier so it time go with the flow.  Plus we were now out of my elelment, THE TWISTIES!!

In my book it was a perfectly executed ambush.  Pretty good stuff for a 318i against a car with twice the horse power.

I don't know if I would say over rated.  Like the other beer-religion thread, Mustangs do have their fanatics.  I got lucky and caught him sleeping in the wrong gear.

I sold a '93 Ford Lightning to buy my current car.  I am pretty familiar with the SVT line.  It is pretty good stuff.  Better than your average Ford.
