A little more than inch upfront and less than an inch in the rear. The ride is much better. But some of that is due to the fact that the old suspension was shot. I've had the car about a year and have slowly been upgrading. First was 16' OEM five spoke wheels and tires, then the brakes and I then just did the suspension. There is no gap in the rear and just one finger over the front wheels.

I like the all black look of your car. I do like the lines of the E30. Since this was my first BMW I wanted a slightly newer one until I knew what I was getting into. I work for a wholesale distributor so I get most of the parts pretty cheap. The pads where about $60, 4 rotors for about $250, shocks/struts about $300, the springs are a steal at $110 and I spent $125 at Pelican for stuff we don't stock, RSM's, strut bearings and hardware. And the tire and wheel combo was only about $500. I bought the car for less than $6k, it has 128k on it now.

thanks for the compliment  I have the zimmerman cross drilled up front - couldn't spend the $ to get the brembo's. would be nice on day. Koni or Tokico...what's your suggestion. |

Everybody uses Koni, is would be hard to criticize them. Since I was trying the "Bimmer on a Budget" angle I think I saved a little with the Tokico non-adjustable. My car will never see a track day, and I know what it is and isn't. Part of my reason for posting the install was also to show an alternative to the Koni/H&R crowd. Tokico does also 5 way adjustable shocks/struts and I don't think they would take a back seat to any other brand.

I know what you mean.
I gave Fabian a computer ( that I got from work ) for his springs and help on the install - I need to see what it's like in an e30 with Koni shocks before I buy them - the car needs to feel perfect for me - right now, it's loose in the back, and I have to get that fixed before I hit the track.

I will have to address some bushing issues before to long. But so far I have been pleasantly surprised about the ride quality. Firm but not harsh, the car really takes a set in a corner now. I don't have much of an issue of it getting loose in back. More tire than power, so it stays put.

You hit the nail on the head with "More tire than power, so it stays put". A few people I know thought it was wierd that I can't get totaly sideways around corners. That is american musclehead thought process for you. I explain that I would rather have the car sail through than loose the ass end.By the way, most of these guys get real nervous around 120. After that, they are nothing more than spot in the rear view mirror.

I use to be a musclehead. I thank BMW for opening my eyes. I am now about control. It feeeeeeel sssoooo dam good to glide through a corner, knowing that the rear end is going to stay where it should. My main battle is with the mustang GT's. Those guys just love to mess around. It is close until it gets twisty, or we get above 115-120. After that they loose the nerve.

I am a long-time Ford guy. Most of the Mustang crowd work to hard under the hood and not enough on the chassis. The car is very capable, most of them just don't try.
