Saw a 5 series in San Antonio over the week-end.  It had an M5 badge on the front and a nice aero package, but on the deck lid it had 535 is or ics.  If it was a real M5 it would have only had a M5 badge on the deck, correct?  It was probably a late 80's or early 90's model, all black.  Very nice car, but I dislike posers.

Old models, like the e24 6series, the e28 5series, and (only rumors) the e31 8 series don't only have names like m6 m5 or m8
the m6 was the m635CSi, the M5 was the M535i and the M8 the M850Csi

That males sense.  I thought I had seen some older cars with both labels.  I didn't get to look at it for very long as he was moving and I was stopped.  We were driving the Expedition so there was no way I was going to run he him down to get a better look.  It was a sweeet looking car.
