I know it's not a bimmer but I sold the E30 and I am modding the Jetta so SHH!

1986 VW Jetta

De-Baffled Airbox, more air flow and a nice deep growl under full throttle - FREE
K&N Filter - $10 from a buddy of mine
Advanced Timing 6*(pulls hard starting at about 3200 RPM)  - FREE
"Cleaned" Exhaust (gutted Cat) and 2.5" TT Exhaust - $250
Steel Wheels (for Auto X'ing and until... I can afford new wheels...) - $8 rattle can paint job flat black
Close Ratio GTI Tranny - $160 from VW Graveyard, lets me hit fifth gear really quick
New lightwieght Halfshafts (FWD... meh) - $180

All work done by me.

Future mods include:

Coilovers
Turbo setup
Paint
Full interior swap out of a MKIV Jetta

It is at least German.  Sounds like a fun project.  And you will certainly tip the scales favorably.  What brand are the axle shafts?  When you start shopping for suspension let me know and we will see what we can find.

Not quite sure about the axels... I'll check.

Only problem with that close ration GTI tranny is I can get to like highway speed, 75, FAST but then I am cruisin at like  4500 RPM and I don't like that... I am thinking of swapping out fifth gear to that of a Diesel Jetta which will still give me good top end but let me cruise at 3K at like 80mph...

I'll be sure and holler at ya when I get ready to do my suspension.
