This upgrade will allow your 2 speed auxiliary cooling fan to come on at a lower temperature than OEM. The OEM switches closed and the fan started when the radiator reached 91 degrees C. The upgrade switch allows the fan to start at low speed at 80 degrees C and then kick up to high speed at 88. I live in Arizona which makes this upgrade mandatory. It's easier to do this upgrade at the same time you completely flush and fill your coolant.

At the Erzberg Race in Styria/Austria, the Finn Simo Kirssi and stunt world champion Christian Pfeiffer demonstrated the potential of the BMW HP2 Enduro in the summer of 2005. Finishing 1st and 5th respectively, they caused a stir in the legendary Prolog rankings of the off-road spectacle, captivating spectators and BMW fans alike. Now the two top BMW riders are set to prove they are up to the task on snow too. Up against 58 enduro competitors, the BMW riders will line up for the first Snow Speedhill on March 4th 2006 on BMW HP2s which are largely equivalent to serial production machines. Simo Kirssi and Christian Pfeiffer have high hopes for themselves in this sprint race on a ski slope at the Götschen ski centre in Bischofswiesen, Upper Bavaria. "It'll be really exciting. I'm use to riding on snow as I keep fit in the winter by enduro riding in the Finnish forests. For other people it may be quite a new experience," says the Finnish off-road professional. Chris Pfeiffer is also highly motivated: "I love this kind of unusual, extreme situation. Obviously full throttle is what counts here and the power of the HP2 will give us a good chance. Whether it will be enough is yet to be seen - it's certainly going to be interesting."
The licence-free race is being organised by the off-road specialist Baboons in cooperation with BMW Motorrad. The "race track" is 800 m long up a steep ski slope, with no spikes or chains allowed. There are neither categories nor special entry regulations. The competition is based on a simple principle: the winner is the one who is first past the post. Any street-legal enduro and motocross machines with commercial-grade massive bar tyres can take part. The exhaust or noise level is limited to 94 dB(A). The thundering 2-cylinder flat twin BMW machines will keep spectators on their toes and are likely to be the life and soul of this spectacular event.
A maximum of 60 riders are admitted for entry. A qualifying round of 12 races with 5 riders each decides on participation in the next round. The first three go through. Two more qualifying rounds with nine and six races each produce the six best riders for the final race. Here the finishing order determines the winner and subsequent places. The Götschen ski centre is the venue for this spectacle and is situated between Bad Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden. The 800 m ski slope is specially prepared and can be seen by spectators along its entire length. Admission is free and there will be plenty of action. The starting shot for the qualifiers will go off at 6.50 pm by floodlight. As Kirssi puts in : "The atmosphere of a snow race on a floodlit ski slope with crowds of spectators will be really unique - certainly new and exciting for me."
The grand finale of the "Snow Speedhill King" spectacular will be at 11.15 pm: once the winner is known there will be a big closing party including light show and music.

U.S. artist interprets the new BMW Z4 Coupé in computer-generated unique prints Munich/New York. Artists love to venture along and even beyond the ragged edge, pushing the envelope as they work and progressively redefining what is possible. Just a few years ago, the design of the new BMW Z4 Coupé, for example, would have been considered impossible to build - the lines too extravagant, the panels too complex to manufacture. For New York-based designer Joshua Davis, feasibility problems are familiar ground: His works originate on the computer, and to date, they have been considered too complex to print. This common ground recently triggered a spell of close collaboration between Davis and BMW - giving rise to a limited edition of unique prints inspired by the new Z4 Coupé.
.jpg) Thousands of layers in each image.
34-year-old Davis is a pioneer of algorithmic graphic design. The prestigious locations where his works have been exhibited include the Tate Modern (London), the Centre Pompidou (Paris), and P.S.1 MoMA (New York). In the runup to the launch of the BMW Z4 Coupé in mid-2006, Davis will be producing three limited series of large-format, high-end color prints for BMW which, from today, can be ordered on a dedicated website. The pioneering aspect here is that each signed and numbered print has its own individual design - so each one is entirely unique.
Joshua Davis writes computer programs that deconstruct a defined reality and reconstruct it at random. Since 1995, his regenerative mode of composition has been giving rise to pictorial worlds never previously explored; worlds so complex that a human painter would need weeks, if not months, to create a single motif by hand. Even sophisticated hi-tech print shops will often throw in the towel faced with Davis's designs: "With up to 120,000 layers and 50,000 vectors, my artwork freaks printers out," confirms the artist and stresses that it's only with the help of complex post-editing techniques that actual prints can be produced. Auto design meets graphic design.

View the photos of the 2006 BMW Alpina B7 here Committed to developing the best performing vehicles in the luxury market, BMW with ALPINA has created a special high performance version of BMW’s 7 Series luxury sedan. The 2006 BMW ALPINA B7 brings together the luxury, pioneering design, and advanced technology of the 7 Series Sedan with the scintillating performance of a supercharged, 500hp V-8 engine. To power the BMW ALPINA B7, ALPINA specially developed a higher-performance version of BMW’s 4.4-liter, 90-degree V-8 engine and mated it to a 6-speed automatic transmission featuring steering wheel mounted shift controls. The motor produces 500 horsepower at 5,500 rpm along with maximum torque of 516 lbs.-ft. at 4,250 rpm, and propels the B7 from 0-60 mph in a mere 4.8 seconds. ALPINA 21-inch wheels carry Z-rated performance tires, while the sport-tuned suspension includes Active Roll Stabilization. The B7 aerokit includes a rear spoiler to improve stability, handling, and performance at high speeds.
ALPINA was established in 1964 as an official and approved “ennobler” of BMW automobiles. Their tradition is to take production BMWs and make them even more appealing to connoisseurs of automotive finery.
With this new model, BMW will raise the benchmark for the segment in terms of performance, refinement, technology, and luxury. Approximately 200 US-version cars are planned for the 2006 model year, with a release date in July 2006.
