This domain was purchased back in 11/2007, and started development, but never completed. Just about 4 days ago, I decided to give it another try.
I've spent countless hours building this site, hammering out bugs, adding new features, testing, adding more features, testing, trying to make a completely new website...Well, the thing is...It's really close (almost twin) to our sister site - www.bmwsport.net - I've done quit a bit the same here, and have done quite a bit different at the same time.
I've been trying to get the "Logon with Facebook" integration to fully work, but have had no luck with it over the past couple of months. It's not going into "Development Hell", but is rather going to be a "work in progress" on almost a daily basis, to get this to work. (worked once for me in IE, ONCE). I'm definitely not giving up on this one.
Well, something that went really well during this whole "build" operation, I did manage to integrate every member from BMWsport.net to have the same user name and password to use to log on to BOTH websites. All you have to do is log on to either website, then head to the other to log on there too. This also applies to all new members who register on either site. Your account is good on both websites.
Some things below are the same as on BMWsport.net, just wanted to list what you can do on both sites. The only difference are the notes under "Photo Gallery" below.
Facebook: I have, for the time being, integrated the site with Facebook for posting comments here on the main site (not the forum or photo gallery yet - see above). As long as you're logged into Facebook, you can post comments on any Press Release, Tech Tip, Product Review, whatever you can read on here, you can comment on.
Creating Articles | Photo Gallery: Press Releases, Tech Tips, Product Reviews, Creating and replying to Topics in the Network Forum, Creating and Uploading photos in the Photo Gallery - this is done by creating an account here, or using your credentials that you had on BMWsport.net - once logged in, you have full permission to do everything listed above.
Photo Gallery: Creating and Uploading photos in the Photo Gallery - Once you're logged in, or registered, you are allowed your own free gallery (albums) to upload photos and videos to. Here's the new part - any category that is already created, you have permission to upload your own photos to these galleries, or, create your own gallery in that specific category. For example: If you have photos from the 1999 Mobil1 12 Hours of Sebring, and you want to upload those photos - you're allowed to create an album in that category and upload your files.
Social Sharing: I've added at the top of the site, which will be on every page, the "AddThis" module - this way, you can share any page you're currently viewing on any of the Social Networking sites that are listed, right away. You can even bookmark a link from that menu.
Multiple Languages: At the top of the Site, Network Forum and Photo Gallery, you will see Flags, or a drop down menu that will represent your preferred language to view the site. All of them work in real-time. Just select your preferred language on each of the 3 (Site, Gallery, Forum).
I've also signed up to receive some Press Releases from a few teams that are racing in the 2011 / 2012 season. New categories and Press Releases will be added continuously. There's a lot to cover.
