Monterey, Calif. - October 21, 2006... Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand, driving the No. 21 BMW Team PTG M3, finished eighth in today's American Le Mans Series Monterey Sports Car Championships. The duo completed 139 laps of the 2.238-mile Laguna Seca circuit in the four hour race, finishing 10 laps behind the winning Ferrari. Running as high as fourth in the closing stages, Auberlen and Hand had to settle for an eighth place finish after mechanical problems forced them to take the checkered flag in the pit lane. The No. 22 BMW Team PTG M3 of Justin Marks and Bryan Sellers was forced to retire following a collision on lap 80. Auberlen started the No. 21 M3 from the seventh position, but on the second lap found himself in the gravel after being hit by a competitor. Luckily the race's first caution period came only a lap later and he was able to catch up with the field and not lose a lap. Japanese Grand Prix - Race, Sunday - 08.10.06 Weather: dry, sun and clouds, 23-25°C Air, 21-28°C Track Suzuka (JPN). Nick Heidfeld scored another championship point in the Japanese Grand Prix. Now the BMW Sauber F1 Team goes to the season's finale in Brazil in two weeks time fifth in the constructors' world championship. The advantage over Toyota is just one point. Nick Heidfeld: 8th BMW Sauber F1.06-04/BMW P86 Race Fastest Lap: 1.34.525s on lap 31 - 13th quickest My race was good and relatively unspectacular. At the start I gained one position and moved to eighth. The car was good, but I had trouble with the tyres. In all three stints I had graining on both the front and rear tyres. I have been on the softer compound, which was certainly the worse choice for the race. However, the decision had not been easy as, due to the weather conditions on Friday, we were not able to compare the...

In the Chinese Grand Prix the BMW Sauber F1 Team had to settle for two points for Nick Heidfeld. The German started the last lap of the race in fourth and became the victim of dubious manoeuvres. Robert Kubica was up to fifth before half distance, but then lost any chances of a good finish due to changing to dry tyres too early, and the Pole came 13th. Nick Heidfeld: 7th BMW Sauber F1.06-04/BMW P86 Race Fastest Lap: 1.39.164s - 4th quickest This was the most disappointing race of my career - not only in F1 but in my entire life. Right up to the end I was certain I would be fourth, but then a few backmarkers caused trouble. The first one was Albers, who stayed on the dry line and didn't let me pass. I had to brake on the wet, almost spun, went on the grass and lost a few seconds. Then Super Aguri Honda driver, Sato, blocked me for almost a lap. He was fighting,...
