Weather: Sunny and dry, 27-28°C Air, 33-43°C Track. Imola (TA). The BMW Sauber F1 Team finished the first race of the European Formula 1 season in Imola with their drivers Jacques Villeneuve and Nick Heidfeld 12th and 13th respectively. Jacques Villeneuve: 12th BMW Sauber F1.06-02 / BMW P86 Fastest lap: 1:25.438s, lap 53 (eighth fastest overall) It was not that exciting because I had a problem in the first pit stop. We were not as competitive as we expected. However, the balance was good and with this we should have been able to do some quick laps. The start was bad but then the first corner was okay. For the next race we have a new engine and that should help a lot, which is important as we are racing in Germany. Nick Heidfeld: 13th BMW Sauber F1.06-03 / BMW P86 Fastest lap: 1:25.996s, lap 53 (twelfth fastest overall) This was a disappointing race for us especially as I had expected our race pace to be higher. But unfortunately this was not the case. My start was okay but stil...

I already knew Imola, but they have changed the chicane and re-asphalted some corners. Where the grip level was poor the car was very unstable. We have worked to choose the best tyres, mainly concentrating on doing long runs to see the degradation, and I think we have done two really good sessions. I think it was a good Friday and I think the team will be happy with my driving and our job with the guys. Nick Heidfeld: 1st Practice: No time / 2nd Practice: 10th, 1:26.387s I only did a few lap...

On both occasions we showed good race pace." What was going through your mind when you were running second in the Australian Grand Prix? • BMWs Battle Against Competition Adjustments
ST. PETERSBURG, FL - 04/03/2006 - Will Turner was the highest-finishing BMW driver in yesterday's SPEED Touring Car race on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. Turner, piloting the #2 H&R Springs/EdgeRock Technologies BMW 325i started from the fourth row and advanced several positions in the course of the race to finish in the sixth position. After the win by Bill Auberlen and Turner Motorsport in the opening round at Sebring, the series officials levied heavy penalties against the BMWs: 100lbs additional minimum weight, a lower rev limit by 400 rpm, and a mandatory shift in the weight distribution to 52% front/48% rear. At the start Turner avoided a starting line melee that resulted in the race's only caution period. The racing resumed on lap 6 and after seven laps of green flag racing Turner got around a slower BMW and set his sights on the leaders. Were he not saddled with the additional weight, Turner could have made it a tighter battle at the front. With a sixth-place fini...

  • WTCC - ROUNDS 1 AND 2 - MONZA - RACE
2006 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) Rounds 1 and 2 - 01st/02nd April 2006 - Race Priaulx wins a round of the WTCC season opener in the BMW 320si. Monza (Italy), 02nd April 2006. BMW Team UK driver Andy Priaulx (GBR) has won the inaugural round of the 2006 FIA World Touring Car Championship. At the "Autodromo Nazionale di Monza", the reigning World Champion prevailed against SEAT drivers Yvan Muller (FRA) and James Thompson (GBR), thus securing a win for the new BMW 320si WTCC in its maiden race. The second race of the season, however, was disappointing for the BMW national teams. Following several accidents, none of the five drivers made it to the chequered flag. In sunny conditions, with temperatures around 18°C, Priaulx made a great start to race one. The pole-sitter controlled the field and defended his lead until the chequered flag. In the early stages of the race, it looked as if BMW Team Germany's Dirk Müller (GER) might make for a BMW one-two. At th...

  • BMW Sauber F1 Team - Australian GP - Race
Weather: dry, overcast, 18-20°C Air, 25-28°C Track Melbourne (AUS). In a breathtaking Australian Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team not only brought both of its BMW Sauber F1.06s home to the finish, but scored points with each as Nick Heidfeld finished fourth, and Jacques Villeneuve sixth. Nick Heidfeld: 4th BMW Sauber F1.06-04 /BMW P86 Fastest lap: 1:27.700 s, lap 49 (7th overall) I am really happy about this result. We were already competitive in practice but we were even stronger in the race. I think it’s fantastic for a new team having both cars in the points, especially considering where Jacques started. My only problem was that I couldn’t get heat into the tyres immediately after each safety car period; it was particularly bad after the last one when Kimi was all over me, and we touched lightly in Turn 4. I then braked too late for Turn 6 because the front tyres were still not up to temperature, and as I ran wide he was able to pass me. So was Ralf, within met...
