  • HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX - RACE
Weather: Sunny, dry. Temp: Air 34-35 °C, Track 44-47°C Budapest (HUN) On an extraordinarily hot day at the Hungaroring, both the BMW WilliamsF1 team drivers made the best out of their race and scored some valuable points. Nick Heidfeld finished 6th and Mark Webber 7th having started 12th and 16th respectively.Nick Heidfeld: 6th Best time: 1:22.053 (lap 53, 6th overall)Chassis: FW27 03 / BMW P84/5 Engine: 1st GPThe initial start was poor, a lot of cars went by but I made a good move under braking into the first two corners and gained a lot of positions there. After that I had big problems in the first stint. I had to turn down the engine power to the lowest settings we had because our temperatures increased after my car picked up some debris from the track. The balance of the car wasn't perfect but still quite good. I caught Button up after the 2nd stop but it is too difficult to pass here. Overall I am very happy with today's result, especially because I have collected some poi...

Formula BMW USA begins the second-half of its 2005 season at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 28-31. A new circuit for the series, the twisting 2.3-miles of Barber Motorsports Park will be quickly followed by Formula BMW USA's second visit to the streets of Denver, Colorado for the Aug. 11-14 Denver Grand Prix. These two weekends are sure to prove critical in the hopes of the Formula BMW USA drivers with a chance at the Overall and Rookie crowns before the final weekend of the season at Road Atlanta on Sept. 30 - Oct. 1. Three BMW Junior drivers, Kevin Lacroix, of St-Eustache, Quebec; Frenchman Richard Philippe, of Key Biscayne, Florida; and Robert Wickens, of Etobicoke, Ontario, stand in the top-three of both the Overall and Rookie Championships, sharing seven of eight wins to-date among themselves.Lacroix, 16, has led the Overall points since his opening victory in Round 1 and has two additional wins in his column, but three finishes out of the points means he ...

  • GERMAN GRAND PRIX - RACE
Weather: Overcast. Temp: Air 24 °C, Track 29-30°C Hockenheim (GER) In spite of their encouraging starting positions, neither of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team drivers collected any points today. Nick Heidfeld finished just outside the top ten whereas the race of team-mate Mark Webber was compromised right after the start due to another car hitting his FW27 at the first corner.Nick Heidfeld: 11th Best time: 1:16.607 (lap 10, 13th overall)Chassis: FW27 03 (T-Car FW27 06) / BMW P84/5 Engine: 2. GPI had a good start, making up two positions. In the beginning it was not bad and I could clearly keep the pace of Michael Schumacher and Button who were both just in front of me. I was unlucky after the pit-stop, just falling behind some two-stoppers and I couldn't go at my own pace anymore. I actually think the biggest problem was that at the end of the first stint something in the rear of the car changed and affected the balance. I was never able to do the lap times after that. Towards the end...

  • GERMAN GRAND PRIX, JULY 22-24, 2005 - PREVIEW
After a constructive test in Jerez this week, during which the MKII bodywork was put through its paces, the team head to Germany with a range of modifications intended to improve competitive performance. Having won nine races at the Hockenheimring, the last of which was achieved in 2003, the team is looking to deliver a stronger result at BMW's home race. The German Grand Prix at Hockenheim will be the 12th round of the 2005 FIA Formula One World Championship season and the penultimate race of July's gruelling schedule of back to backs.Nick Heidfeld:"I am, of course, looking forward to racing at Hockenheim as it is one of two home races for me. At the moment, we are not looking strong in terms of speed, which has been clear in the last two races. I am confident though that we will improve our situation after testing in Jerez so I will be able to put on a good show in front of the home fans.I find the unique atmosphere in Hockenheim very special, it feels a bit like the atmosphere ...

  • BRITISH GRAND PRIX - RACE
Weather: Sunny, dry. Temp: Air 20-21 °C, Track 30-31°C Silverstone (GBR) Despite not enjoying their usual competitive form, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team made the best of their competitiveness to hold off a sustained challenge from Red Bull & Sauber to finish the race just outside of the top ten in 11th and 12th place. The team expects to return to form at BMW's home race in Hockenheim in a fortnight following an intensive test of the new aerodynamic developments in Spain this week.Mark Webber: 11th Best time: 1:23.291 (lap 16, 15th overall)Chassis: FW27 05 / BMW P84/5 engine 1st GP If you are starting from 11th position it is usually difficult to score a strong result unless you have a fast car. It was very hard for us today as circumstances were similar to Magny-Cours. We didn't have much of a chance quite simply because the car was not quick enough. There's a lot of work ahead of us and we need to get back to form, and do so quickly.Nick Heidfeld: 12th Best time: 1:23.360 (lap...

  • FRENCH GRAND PRIX - RACE
Weather: Sunny, dry. Temp: Air 30-32 °C, Track 50-51°C Magny-Cours (FRA) The BMW WillismF1 team drivers Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld finished in 12th and 14th position respectively in today's 70-lap race, after both the cars experienced some technical problems. The team will now work to analyse and understand the reason of these in order to improve their performance for the next Grand Prix at Silverstone next weekend.Mark Webber: 12th Best time: 1:18,395 (lap 17, 15th overall)Chassis: FW27 05 / BMW P84/5 engine 2nd GP My race was hampered today by a huge problem I had with heat in the cockpit area. It became so intense that I had to ask for some water to be poured in around my seat at the pit-stops. It was very uncomfortable to race in that condition and as a result, I now have a large raw burn on my right hip which the doctor has treated. The race itself was difficult, because after starting from poor grid position, we were struggling at the back of the pack. We have a lot of...
