  • BMW Team PTG M3s Mark Important BMW Anniversaries at Daytona
    Defending Rolex GT Champions Begin 10th Season of Competition Woodcliff Lake, NJ - January 31, 2005? When the two BMW Team PTG M3s begin testing for the weekend?s 43rd Rolex 24 at Daytona the team will be marking two very significant milestones in BMW motorsports history. The Rolex 24 at Daytona will begin the tenth season of competition for BMW M3s of BMW Team PTG and 30th anniversary of BMW of North America?s motorsport programs. Beginning with two BMW CSLs in 1975 emblazoned with BAVARIAN MOTOR WORKS across the tops of their windshields, BMW of North America?s racing programs have continued to prove the brand in competition for three decades.  The BMW Team PTG M3 program has been the longest lived and the most successful racing program for BMW of North America.   • BARCELONA TEST 18th - 20th January 2005
    The BMW WilliamsF1 Team completed a three day test programme at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona today. The team had three drivers on duty for the test, including Mark Webber, Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia. In preparation for the season opener in Melbourne on 6th March, the team concentrated on the evaluation and development of components using the interim FW26C chassis. Despite various set-backs, the team recorded the fastest time of the day on Wednesday and covered over 1,560 kilometres over the three day period. On the first day, Mark and Antonio had to get used to the new track surface, but both drivers still recorded some good mileage on the interim chassis while testing new parts for the FW27.   • BMW Driver Bill Auberlen Receives AARWBA All-America First Team Award
    Woodcliff Lake, N.J. (Jan. 17, 2005) -- Rolex Sports Car Series GT Champion Bill Auberlen accepted his First Team All-America award at Saturday?s 2004 American Auto Racing Writers & Broadcasters Association (AARWBA) banquet in Pomona, Calif. Nearly 300 members of the AARWBA vote to determine the winners. The organization has annually chosen its All-America teams since 1970. Nominated in the At Large category, Auberlen had a record-setting year in the Rolex Sports Car Series, as he became the first driver in series history to earn six consecutive class victories. Driving the No. 21 BMW Team PTG BMW M3, Auberlen had a total of eight GT class victories on his way to the 2004 GT Driver championship. He also repeated as SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge Touring Car Driver Champion in his Turner Motorsport BMW 325i.   • Jerez Test - Summary
    The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today completed their first test of 2005. In preparation for the forthcoming season, the team ran two interim FW26 chassis over five days at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain. Mark Webber, Antonio Pizzonia and Nick Heidfeld were all on hand to share testing duties at the Spanish circuit. With extensive revisions to the Championship's regulations for 2005, the team worked through an intensive schedule of set-up work, systems checks, brake and tyre testing. Over the week, the drivers collectively accumulated almost 1,000 laps while setting the quickest times on three out of the five days.   • BMW touring car ace Andy Priaulx in Formula One test
    Munich, 13th January 2005. The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today confirmed that Andy Priaulx, the reigning European Touring Car Champion, has been extended an invitation to test with the team on January 27 at the team's Valencia test. The invitation has been made in recognition of his achievements in the BMW 320i in the 2004 FIA Touring Car Championship. The award was made in December 2004 at the BMW Motorsport Party and Award Ceremony. BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen, said, "To drive a Formula One car is every racing driver's dream. We are delighted to be able to fulfil that dream for Andy. His successes in formula racing go back a few years now, but his hard work and his success in the European Touring Car Championship have won our confidence.     The BMW WilliamsF1 Team confirmed that the Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS) will join the team as a major sponsor in a multi-year deal.   • BMW WilliamsF1 Team Kick Start 2005 season in Bahrain.
    Bahrain. The BMW WilliamsF1 Team started its 2005 season campaign early this year, launching its livery and 2005 driver line-up evaluations and a host of new commercial alliances in Bahrain today.At a press conference at the Bahrain International Circuit, the team confirmed that Antonio Pizzonia (24, Brazil) and Nick Heidfeld (27, Germany) would continue their evaluations over the course of three tests in Spain during January before a decision is finally taken on the identity of the team's second race driver. The successful candidate will be presented at the team's car launch on January 31, 2005 in Valencia.   • Formula BMW UK Championship: Calendar 2005 announced.
    Calendar 2005 announced. Bracknell. The competitors in the 2005 Formula BMW UK Championship will gain valuable experience on the most prestigious race tracks in the UK and Ireland in a ten race series that runs from April to October. The Championship will visit the same ten venues as in 2004, although there will be a couple of important differences. The opening round on the 10th April will be at Donington Park, where last year's series held its championship deciding finale. To give the drivers even more experience on challenging tracks, the second of the two rounds at Brands Hatch, which will be the last race on the 2nd October, will be on the Grand Prix circuit.   • BMW TEAM PTG RETURNS TO ROLEX SERIES GT COMPETITION IN 2005
    Woodcliff Lake, NJ - January 5, 2005... BMW of North America, LLC announced today that BMW Team PTG will return to the Rolex Sports Car Series in 2005 with two all-new BMW M3s ready to defend its 2004 GT class championships. 2005 will mark BMW Team PTG's 10th season of competition with the BMW M3. Since 1995, BMW Team PTG has recorded 46 wins in nine years of North American sports car competition. Ten of those wins came in last season's sweep of the Rolex Series GT class Manufacturer, Driver and Team championships.While GT class rules changes have required BMW Team PTG to construct new M3s for 2005, 2004 Rolex GT driver champion Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand will return to anchor BMW of North America's effort in the No. 21 M3.   • Said, Hainer, Sofronas Join Forces with Anchor Racing
    Chicago, IL (1/4/2005) -- Anchor Racing will field two BMW M3s in the Grand Am Cup Series.   Team owner and driver, John Munson, will once again co-pilot the No. 92 Anchor Racing BMW M3 with James Sofronas.  Munson and Sofronas spent the majority of last season developing the M3 for the 2005 season, with a best place fifth finish at the California Speedway in Fontana, California.  Ace drivers, Boris Said and Anders Hainer will be copiloting the second Anchor Racing BMW M3.   The dynamic duo served as teammates last year in four Grand Am Cup races in the Unitech ?
