  • BMW Team PTG Gets to Know Road America
    Just four days after its historic 1-2-3-4 Speed GT Round-6 sweep at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., BMW Team PTG introduced its four BMW M3s to the Road America circuit today for Round 7 of the SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championship.Since the beginning of the current BMW M3 racing program in 1995, BMW Team PTG has never raced at the 4.0-mile, 14-turn circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wis.BMW took over the Speed GT Manufacturer's Championship lead after 1-2-5 and 1-3-4 finishes in Rounds 3 and 4 at Lime Rock Park in May. With his third win of the season at Infineon, Bill Auberlen leads the Speed GT Driver's Championship, so Team PTG was all business today, pushing hard to learn the track in order to defend the championship standings.Pushing a bit too hard, both Boris Said and Hans Stuck found the gravel trap at Turn 14 and Justin Marks was forced into the team's spare car after hitting the wall in Canada Corner (Turn 12).Official practice for the weekend is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. CT tomorrow...

  • BMW TEAM PTG MAKES SPEED GT HISTORY WITH 1-2-3-4 M3 SWEEP AT INFINEON
    BMW Team PTG made history again at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., whenit became the first Speed GT team to sweep the first four positions in theSCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championship.While today's 1-2-3-4 finish was a first in Speed GT, when BMW last raced atInfineon Raceway in July of 2001, BMW M3 GTRs swept the first four spots inthe American Le Mans Series endurance race.   • BMW Team PTG Sets the Pace in Speed GT Practice; Auberlen Leads Both Sessions
    Bill Auberlen, in the No. 7 BMW Team PTG M3, led both practice sessionstoday for Round 6 of the SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championships at InfineonRaceway in Sonoma, Calif., setting a time of 1:42.462 around the 2.52-mileroad course in the afternoon session. He was one-half second faster than his1:42.950 time from the morning session.The No. 8 M3 of Hans Stuck was fourth (1:43.751) and the No. 80 of JustinMarks was sixth (1:44.538).The day was trouble-free for Team PTG until Boris Said's No. 6 M3 of Borishad a mechanical problem on the first lap of the second session and couldnot complete a lap.     WINCHESTER, Va. (July 17, 2003) - BMW Team PTG faces two contrasting race tracks in two weeks as it heads into the second half of the 2003 SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championship season: the Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma (Calif.) at Infineon Raceway on July 27, and the Mario Andretti Grand Prix at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., on August 3.The 12-turn, 2.52-mile Infineon Raceway tucked into the hills of Northern California's wine country is like a second home to Team PTG. It's the site of the team's first endurance-racing win and first 1-2-3 M3 sweep in 1996.
