  • BMW TEAM PTG DEBUTS WITH FOURTH AND FIFTH IN WORLD CHALLENGE GT CLASS AT SEBRING
    Hans Stuck and Bill Auberlen finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in BMW Team PTG's debut race in Round 1 of the 2003 SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championship today at Sebring International Raceway.Sports-car racing legend Stuck, driving the No. 8 BMW Team PTG BMW M3, gave a consummate performance in driving past all but the top three finishers after starting from the pit lane, finishing only 4.6 seconds from a place on the podium and 20.117 seconds from the lead. On the pre-grid the crew discovered a differential problem and, in their own virtuoso performance, changed the broken axle in less than 20 minutes.Starting from the sixth grid position in the No. 7 BMW Team PTG M3, Bill Auberlen drove a strong race before a power steering failure and the resulting spin on lap nine dropped him from fourth to 11th.   • All Three M3s Back On Track
    Today's final, late-day, official practice saw all three BMW Team PTG M3s on track as repairs to the No. 6 BMW M3 of Boris Said from yesterday's testing accident were completed just before the session began. At the end of the day Bill Auberlen, driving the No. 7 M3, was the sixth fastest in class with a lap of 2:15.394. With only one timed lap of 2:18.394, the No. 6 M3 of Boris Said was 13th quick and Hans Stuck, in the No. 8 M3, was 30th at a 2:37.490. Of the three Team PTG drivers, only Auberlen will be able to take advantage of World Challenge¹s unique qualifying procedure where just the top 10 drivers from today¹s practice sessions begin from the head of the line in tomorrow's only qualifying session.   • TOP-10 START FOR ALL THREE BMW TEAM PTG M3s
    In their SPEED GT World Challenge debut, all three BMW Team PTG BMW M3s qualified in the top 10 for tomorrow's 50-minute SPEED World Challenge GT race, beginning at 4:25 p.m. Bill Auberlen's No. 7 BMW M3 will start sixth after posting a time of 2:14.350 around the 3.7-mile Sebring International Raceway.   • THEY SAY BAD THINGS HAPPEN IN THREES...
    If bad things do actually come in threes then BMW Team PTG will have a much better week for the remainder of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED GT World Challenge Championship at Sebring International Raceway.The team¹s first World Challenge test session ended quickly as all three M3s were back in the paddock within minutes of the start, with the Auberlen and Stuck M3s out with minor mechanical difficulties and Boris Said only reaching the end of pit lane....

  • STRANGE MORNING TURNS INTO A GOOD DAY FOR BMW TEAM PTG
    After a layoff of one year, the first day back to the track for BMW Team PTG ended more positively than it began as the two BMW M3s of Bill Auberlen and Hans Stuck continued to lower their lap times. As darkness fell over Sebring International Raceway one question mark remained. With the teamwaiting for repair parts to be sent in from their Winchester, Virginia, shop no can say when the No. 6 M3 of Boris Said will be repaired from an early morning accident....

    WINCHESTER, Va. (March 8, 2003) -- International racing veteran and television commentator Hans Stuck will drive a third BMW M3 for BMW Team PTG in the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT event at Sebring (Fla.)
