  • Automatic Racing Earns Two Top Tens at Lime Rock
LAKEVILLE, Conn. – Round five of the KONI Challenge Grand Sport season resulted in two top-ten finishes for the Automatic Racing/Fresh from Florida BMW M3s, moving teammates Jep Thornton and Jeff Segal up to second in the driver championship running. Thornton drove the first stint in the No. 09 Automatic/Fresh from Florida BMW, holding down a position in the top ten before handing over to Segal. Unfortunately, contact from another car during Segal’s stint forced him to pit and the team dropped back. Undaunted, Segal got to work making up positions. He was soon back in the top ten, and he worked his way up to sixth before the checkered flag. Thornton and Segal have been earning consistent top finishes in the No. 09 BMW, and that consistency has paid off with a second-place standing in the GS driver points. “It was a very crazy race with lots of drama and tough racing,” said Thornton. “Our goal at Lime Rock was to stay ahead of the three Mustangs that we are...

MONTEREY, Calif. – Automatic Racing combined speed, strategy and flawless pit stops to put three of their Fresh from Florida BMW M3s in the top ten during Sunday’s KONI Challenge Grand Sport race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Jep Thornton and Jeff Segal earned their third top-five finish of the season in the No. 09 Automatic Racing/Fresh from Florida M3. Thornton and Segal were fifth at Daytona, then third at Iowa. Their consistent finishes so far this season have allowed them to move up to the third spot in the championship standings. Thornton started the race from sixth, and pitted during an early caution to hand the BMW over to Segal. The gamble dropped Segal back to 30th, but it paid off with the eventual fifth-place finish. “The car was fantastic. Jeff really did his job today. We know they’re going to be a factor later on in this race. The M3s are great here but we know from the past three races we’re going to have to fight for a win.” Jep Thornton qualified sixth in the No. 09 Automatic Racing/Fresh from F...
