  • TMS BMWs KICK OFF NEW SEASON WITH PODIUM, TOP TEN FINISHES
    DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY (January 30, 2007) -- Turner Motorsport drivers started off the season with typical success in the Grand-Am Cup Koni Challenge race at Daytona International Speedway in Florida this past Friday. In a field numbering over 100 cars, all 3 TMS BMWs finished in the top ten in their respective classes. The SPEED Channel will run a 2-hour re-cap of the race on March 10, 2007 at 8:00pm ET. In both the Grand Sport and Street Tuner classes Turner Motorsport cars were the top BMW finishers: third for Chris Gleason/Bill Auberlen in the #96 Motul Lubricants/H&R Springs BMW M3 and seventh for Adam Burrows/Trevor Hopwood in the #95 B&M Shifters/H&R Springs BMW 330i. In the GS class Chris Gleason and Bill Auberlen scored a third-place finish from behind the wheel of their Motul Lubricants/H&R Springs BMW M3. Their podium finish is the second in a row at Daytona.   • Automatic Racing’s No. 09 Fresh from Florida BMW Fifth at Daytona
    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jep Thornton and Jeff Segal gave Automatic Racing a fifth-place finish in Friday’s Fresh from Florida 200 at Daytona International Raceway, staying at the front throughout the three-hour race in the No. 09 Fresh from Florida BMW M3. Thornton qualified ninth for the Grand-Am KONI Challenge season opener, and at the start of the race he and teammate Tom Long, who was driving the No. 99 Fresh from Florida BMW M3, worked their way into the top five. Long and Thornton ran fifth and sixth throughout much of the first hour, before they both pitted during a caution period. Segal took the No. 09 BMW back on track, and David Russell took over in the No. 99 BMW. Segal soon had his car in fifth, and pit strategy came into play at the halfway mark.   • Bill Fenton Motorsports Announces KONI Challenge Lineup
    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Bill Fenton Motorsports returns to the Street Tuner class of the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series during this weekend’s season opener at Daytona International Raceway. The team will be racing the No. 27 and 29 Southern Auto Auction Acura RSXs. Todd Lamb and Dave Thilenius are teaming up once again to challenge the ST class, this time in the No. 27 Acura. The two drove together twice last year in ST competition, earning a best finish of sixth at Barber Motorsports Park. Long before they were co-drivers, Lamb and Thilenius were fraternity brothers in college. The Sigma Chi alumni have long since graduated, but some things never change. “We give each other crap all the time,” explains Lamb. “I think most co-drivers do that, but we’re especially good at it! Tom Long posted the fifth-quickest lap time in the 15-minute qualifying session for the Grand Sport class. This weekend marks the first time that Long has driven with Automatic Racing, but the talented 24-year-old proved that he knows the fast way around Daytona with his 2:02.903 lap time in the No. 99 Fresh from Florida BMW M3 that he shares with David Russell. “It’s exciting to be able to qualify the Fresh from Florida car fifth,” said Long. “There is just so much energy going into this weekend, especially since Fresh from Florida is also sponsoring the race.   • TMS DRIVER LINE-UP INCLUDES CHAMPS AND NEW FACES
    Amesbury, MA USA -- Grand-Am Cup champions return to the GS and ST classes for the 2007 season with an all-star driver line-up consisting of current champions and future winners. Will Turner and Don Salama, 2006 ST class Driver Champions, will move into the GS class in the #97 BMW M3; Bill Auberlen and Chris Gleason return to blue and yellow in the #96 BMW M3 ; and TMS has selected Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood to pilot the #95 BMW 330i in the ST class. Both the #97 and #95 BMWs won their respective championships in 2006. For 2007, the Grand-Am Cup has a new name: the Grand-Am Koni Challenge. The new name reflects the sponsorship from Koni Shock Absorbers. Turner and Salama were instant stars when they debuted together in Grand-Am in 2004.   • Miller and Trinkler Ready to Take on Daytona with Automatic Racing
    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jon Miller and Owen Trinkler are teaming up to pilot the No. 90 Automatic Racing BMW M3 during next week’s Fresh from Florida 200 at Daytona International Raceway. Miller and Trinkler are both making their debut with Automatic, though neither one is a stranger to the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series. Miller, who is just 21 years old, first competed in the series last year. After a successful run in the Skip Barber Formula Dodge RT2000 Southern Region, Miller moved up to KONI Challenge and the Spec Racer Ford SARRC Regional Championship for 2006.
