  • AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX, MARCH 4 - 6, 2005, PREVIEW
    Australian Grand Prix 4 - 6 March 2005 - PREVIEW With a new and revitalised driver line-up, Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld will launch the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's 2005 Formula One campaign in Melbourne on Sunday March, 6, the first of a 19 race championship which will conclude in eight months time in China. For Mark in particular, his BMW WilliamsF1 debut will be especially poignant at his home race, where in 2002 in his debut Formula One race he delighted the home crowd by claiming a stunning fifth place, and grabbing the attention of the Formula One paddock.Since launching the FW27 chassis and the BMW P84/5 engine, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team has completed 25,370 test kilometres on three different tracks, generating an impressive pre-season reliability record. Michelin too have moved forward significantly with a one-race, harder compound tyre achieving long run lap times roughly comparable with the best times achieved by shorter life tyres last season....

  • MARK WEBBER EXCITES WITH OVERDRIVE OF THE HARBOUR BRIDGE
    Sydney (AUS). This Sunday morning the BMW WilliamsF1 Team gave Australia the first taste of Formula One action in 2005. With the season's opener in Melbourne just one week away Australia's best known landmark, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, developed into a Formula One track when Mark Webber drove over it at the wheel of the team's Formula One car. Spectators at the famous opera where listening to the BMW V10 cylinder's sound. Exactly at 8.10 am the Australian set off and crossed the bridge a dozen times. The TV channel Network 10 provided countrywide live broadcast of the event, spectators where following the overdrive of their 28 year old countryman on a huge video screen.   • BMW TEAM PTG M3s FOUR-STRONG AT GRAND PRIX OF MIAMI
    Two F1 Air-sponsored M3s to Debut Woodcliff Lake, NJ - February 28, 2005... Round two of the 2005 Rolex Sports Car Series season will see the defending GT champion's debut two new BMW M3s. Drivers RJ Valentine and Kelly Collins will share the No. 17 F1 Air M3, and Justin Marks and Tom Milner will co-drive the No. 16 F1 Air M3."By doubling our efforts this season, BMW Team PTG is more than doubling our chances for year-end success," said Tom Milner, BMW Team PTG owner.   • VALENCIA TEST - FEBRUARY 21st - 24th
    The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today completed a four day test at the Valencia circuit, in Spain. Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld split testing responsibilities, both drivers spending the final test prior to Melbourne fine tuning the set-up of the FW27 and carrying out systems checks. Despite poor weather hampering the last two days, Webber and Heidfeld covered over 1,400 kilometers between them. The conclusion of this week's test marks the end of an exhaustive winter testing period which has seen the BMW WilliamsF1 Team complete a total of 25,370 kilometers over 37 days on three different Spanish tracks. Over the winter months, Mark Webber, Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia have all played a part in the development of the new Williams BMW FW27 in preparation for its race debut in Australia on 6th March....

  • BMW SETS ITS SIGHTS ON THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS AGAIN
    Farewell season for the BMW M3 GTR. Munich, 18th February 2005. One more time: BMW will again be fielding its two BMW M3 GTRs in the Nürburgring 24 Hour Race on 7th/8th May. It will mark the final season for the two muscle cars with their 500 bhp V8 engines that claimed a one-two win in 2004.The seven-man BMW squad for the marathon on the legendary Nordschleife has been named: the winners of 2004, BMW works drivers Dirk Müller (Burbach) and Jörg Müller (Hückelhoven), along with Hans-Joachim Stuck (Ellmau/AUT) are in the team, as are last year's three runners-up - Duncan Huisman (NLD), Pedro Lamy (PRT) and Boris Said (USA).   • BARCELONA TEST - February 15th - 17th, 2005
    In preparation for the 2005 season opener in Melbourne in just under three weeks, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team has spent the past three days in Barcelona developing the Williams BMW FW27. The team's drivers, Mark Webber, Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia, were all present at the Spanish track to undertake testing duties and covered a combined total of over 2,200kms over the three days.The team will now travel to Valencia for a five day test commencing on Sunday 20th February. Valencia will be the final opportunity for the team to test prior to the first race of the season.Sam Michael (Technical Director, WilliamsF1):"Today we finished the three day test in Barcelona with all three of our drivers.   • Michael Tesch Joins Anchor Racing as Team Manager/Crew Chief With the Addition of a Fourth BMW

  • Anchor Racing Fields three BMW M3s at Daytona International Speedway
    Daytona Beach, FL (2/3/2005) ? Despite a tough practice and qualifying day at Daytona International Speedway, Anchor Racing is ready to shine for Friday?s three hour Grand-Am Cup Race.  During Thursday?s morning practice, the No. 92 Anchor Racing/ BMW M3 driven by James Sofronas was hit by the No. 60 Finlay Motorsports/BMW M3 in turn one.  ?The No. 92 was struck on the driver?s rear side, causing considerable damage,? reported Munson, team owner and co-driver.  ?There just wasn?t enough time for the crew to repair the car prior to qualifying.  But, thanks to a talented crew, the M3 should be in top form for tomorrow?s race.?       The No. 99 Anchor Racing/UnderArmour/BMW M3 did not fair much better during Thursday afternoon?s practice.  Top driver, Boris Said, experienced motor problems in the newly built car.  ?The motor has logged only one hour of track time,? explained Munson.  ?The team is working effortlessly to resolve the pro...

This year BMW of North America, LLC will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its North American motorsports programs and the year-long celebration will begin at the 43rd Rolex 24 at Daytona. The BMW Group (BMW and MINI brands combined) reported sales of 19,764 vehicles in January 2005, an increase of 22.5% percent over the January 2004 sales of 16,135.
